Software Developer | Passion for Mentoring | House Plant Enthusiast
My name is Lily LaFleur and I currently work as a Software Engineer at Dicks Sporting Goods. In my free time, I love playing video games, gardening and painting. Before working in tech, I primarily worked in the health field as a medical receptionist, medical assistant, dental assistant and dental hygienist. In my early 20s, I suddenly developed a physical disability due to multiple chronic illnesses which is what led me into transitioning into tech. I have a passion for mentoring and speaking out about my disability. I strongly believe that representation of disabled people in the workplace can change the world as we know it. Recently, I had the opportunity to speak to my company's tech organization about my experiences as a physically disabled woman working in tech. It was an amazing experience, and I continue to look for more ways to represent the disabled community.
In my current role, I have many different responsibilities. I work with multiple different languages and frameworks, such as Kotlin, React, Next.js, React Native, and MSQL. While I love full stack development, I am enjoying mobile development particularly. As a software engineer, I work collaboratively with designers, product managers and other engineers. I work with my team to leverage cutting-edge technologies and modern practices. I specifically work in the supply chain space at my company, and work with my team to solve complex business problems by creating modernized applications. In addition to my work load, I am involved in multiple company wide resource groups as a volunteer.
